Iron Mountain Wood is located at the foot of Iron Mountain deep within the Ouachita Mountains of Western Arkansas; Mena, Arkansas, to be precise. As with any sleepy country town, Mena is rich with tradition. We welcome you to our site and look forward to working with you in creating a heirloom that will stay in your family for many generations.
At Iron Mountain Wood we strive to instill tradition into every baby cradle we build. One of our traditions is building our cradles from 100% white pine. We use no laminates, veneers, or composites in our products. We masterfully craft each baby cradle by attending to every detail. From the time we hand pick the wood to the time we hand sand and carefully fit each piece of the cradle, we realize that we are creating a family heirloom for you, your new baby, and for the generations of babies to come.
Each Iron Mountain Wood cradle is hand crafted and custom made according to your specifications. Open or hooded, straight or round, lattice, dentil, or plain; big foot or little foot rocker - there are hundreds of possible combinations that make a decision challenging but fun. Oh, we didn't mention that each hooded cradle has a holding compartment option. Whether you choose the shallow or deep compartment, you will have a convenient place to store diapers, powder, lotion, and wipe-ups.
Because there are so many possibilities, Iron Mountain Wood suggests that you start from the bottom and work your way up. First, decide which size rocker you prefer, Next, move on to the open and hooded options and decide which best fits your needs. You are now ready to choose your head and foot boards. Do you like the round, straight, or a combination for the head and foot boards? Lastly, do you like the basic cradle with no extra decoration or would you like to add to the design by adding lattice or dentil work? There are lots of decisions, so take your time to be sure you get exactly what you want.
Iron Mountain Wood makes three models of Big Sister Cradles just like the full-size open baby cradles. The Big Sister Cradle lets big sister take care of her baby just like mommy. In the future, we plan to add a hooded cradle to our Big Sister line. We don't make a Big Brother cradle, but we plan to make Big Brother blocks. Be sure to watch for both additions to our line.
To add to the special design of your nursery or of any room, Iron Mountain Wood offers a line of decorative shelves. Shelves are custom built to any length up to 8 feet "per running inch" The routered shelves are 5 & 1/2 wide and made from the same hand picked pine as our cradles. You can choose from angled or straight ends.
Iron Mountain Wood products are shipped three ways: Unfinished, Just Acrylic, or Stained and Acrylic.

1. Unfinished allows you to put your personal touch to your family heirloom. Whether you decide to stain, frost, pickle, paint, or just apply the polyacrylic to the wood, we recommend that you thoroughly reasearch your preferred method of finish, to ensure you will be happy with the end result. A fully detailed set of finishing instructions will be included with each cradle to help in the decision. Also we will send an unfinished board for making samples of test finishes upon.
2. Just Acrylic is a latex or waterbased varnish that is applied over the natural wood.
3. Stained and Acrylic. We have the most popular colors for your choosing.
